Welcome to Pastor Wenner's Seminar on Bible Prophecy. I have always been interested in the teaching about Biblical Prophecy. Ever since I saw the movie“Thief in the night” came out, I was scared that I would be left behind. I remember driving with my parents and seeing a red sky and asking my Mom if that was Jesus coming back.

My prayer is that you will benefit from some of my personal journey and study. Let me tell you a little of my own journey.  I grew up in a family and churches where I was taught Pre-Trib rapture of the church. We had a steady diet of prophetic speculation with books and seminars at Church.   When I went to Moody Bible Institute which is Pre-Trib I began to really look at the issue after being challenge by a friend.  I was being taught Pre-Trib in my classes but as I  read and studied the Bible using the hermeneutical methods that I learned in my classes, I could not reconcile what the scriptures were saying with what my Professors were saying. The more I examined the scriptures the more convinced I became that  what I was being taught was not what the scriptures were teaching. I could not understand and still do not understand why my professors virtually ignored the Olivate discourse found in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 which is Jesus specific teaching on the second coming. The more I read these passages the more convinced that I became that my school and professors were wrong and that Jesus clearly taught one second coming that was simultaneous with the rapture of the Church or a Post-Trib Rapture.   This of course caused me a bit of mental anguish because I really wanted to believe that I was going to be delivered from the Great Tribulation.  That Idea so appealed to my flesh.  Yet just a cursory overview of Church history would lead one to realize that the Church has always faced tribulation and that many Christians around the world face tribulation every day.  The normal course of the Christian life is suffering rather than peace and prosperity.   Then to my surprise I was shocked to find out as I did research on the second coming that the Pre-Trib rapture was not that old that it had not existed in the Church until 1830 and the earliest Apostolic Father were universally Post Trib. (If you would like to read more read Dave MacPherson's The Incredible Cover-up Omega Publishers) This lead me on a scriptural adventure to see what the scriptures really teach.

I am more convinced that this is not a trivial issue it will determine whether we are ready when  real tribulation  comes.  It affects my expectations today when I am picked on by a boss, co-worker or school mate.  If I think that God has exempted me from tribulation, how do I handle the tribulation that I go through every day?  If I expect tribulation how will it help me face the everyday tribulation that we all face?  I believe the answer is very clear.  If we have the expectation of tribulation being the normal course of life in this age than I am not surprise by my trials as if something strange were happening to me.  I face them with Joy realizing that the testing of my Faith produces perseverance.  Please enjoy and if you have any suggestions, you can e-mail me at pastor@stpaulsbiblechurch.org.
